Video: Compositing Test 1 : Sky Replacement
Today we were trying out some composition experiments.Took my HD Cam to the office terrace. Then replaced the blown out sky from the original footage with a dark cloudy sky in aftereffects. The key was to match the motion of the sky with the shaky footage.Had to use multiple motion trackers. Also did some color tuning to match the layers.Watch the video! Will make a tutorial on this soon..
PS: Thanks to Yazid, who is a really good friend and a really bad actor :)

Video FCP Collage: Shrek n A R Rahman
hey guys,
This is a really old collage i've done [2003,i guess] in fcp [final cut pro].I am glad for the fact that this was a popular video in youtube, until i had to remove it due to some objections from the movie distribution house [pretty big huh? :)] This was intended only for my personal training and didn't think about any copyright violations. Moreover its a publicity to the movie, right?.Well let's face it,a lot of guys saw the movie and bought the song after seeing this video :) [ y r u laughing? none of you got a copyright violation notification from paramount pictures!..well i did :) check it out]
Dear Member:
This is to notify you that we have removed or disabled access to the following material as a result of a third-party notification by Paramount Pictures Corporation claiming that this material is infringing:
Shrek in Rahman's Song: [link hidden/disabled]
Please note that under Section 512(f) of the Copyright Act, any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material or activity was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification may be subject to liability.
Sincerely,

A lot of you guys have been asking me to re-upload the video. At last i've done it :). You can download the 'controversial' video here:

What's HDR?
HDR-High Dynamic Range:-
HDR Imaging is a technique of combining several differently exposed images to produce a single HDR image with 32bpc [a normal image is usually 8 bits per channel] image data embedded in it,giving you the ultimate controls on image manipulation.
Tip from paperbird: Shoot a set of the same image with different exposure settings in your camera. Shoot with a tripod to get the alignment right.Save it in camera RAW format.Open photoshop.Goto File>Automate>Merge to HDR.Browse and select the image sequence.Click OK to merge. Now you will have a 32bit image with all the exposure data in it.Work on it.Be prepared to be surprised!
PS: You need photoshop cs2 or above to access this feature.

Tips: How to extract Background Audio Track from a DVD
This might be useful for multimedia guys,if you are interested in ripping
a part of an audio track from a DVD and using it for a personal production
like a trailer or in your home video!
A DVD audio track in Dolby 5.1 comprises of 6 channels namely
Front-Left, Center, Front-Right, Rear-Left, Rear-Right. The vocal
comes only through the center channel. The 6th channel is LFE or
Low Frequency Effects which ranges from 10Hz to 120HZ and the LFE is
send directly to the sub-woofer of the speaker set
Using a software like DGIndex, you can extract the audio of the
required sequence in AC3 format with all 6 channels intact. Now you
need to downmix to MP3 format. For that BeSweet can be used.
Now BeSweet has an option to control the Downmix Power Level. You can
input the power level in dB for each channel separately. Now to
eliminate the center channel, you can try a negative powerlevel like
-50dB or something for center channel alone, while not touching the
power level for other channels.
Also you have other options like specifying the output bitrate. And
when you click the "AC3 to MP3" button what you shud get is an MP3
file with center channel eliminated.
